What's Out?
The What's out? screen shows a live table of every item that is currently out on loan. It's the fastest way to answer "who has this tool?" and to hand several items back at once — without first looking up each volunteer.
Open it from the What's out? entry in the navigation bar.
This screen can be hidden from the navigation bar in the settings. If you don't see it, enable Bulk return under Visible menu entries.
The Table
Each row is one outstanding item line. The columns are:
| Column | Content |
|---|---|
| Tool | Item name, its code, and a serial number badge for serialized variants |
| Volunteer | The renter's name and their sector tags |
| Due | The expected return date, or a status badge (Active, Overdue) |
| Qty | The outstanding quantity still out |
| Action | A quantity field and a Return button for that row |
The header shows the total number of lines currently out.
Filtering
A filter bar above the table lets you narrow the list:
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| Search | Free text — matches item name, code, serial number, volunteer name or tags |
| Sector | Filters by the volunteers' sector tags |
| Renter | Filters to a single volunteer |
Click Clear filters (the ✕) to reset everything.
Returning Items
Single Row
Adjust the quantity if you're only taking part of a line back, then click Return on that row. The line is returned immediately and disappears from the table. A toast confirms {name} ×{qty} returned.
Bulk Return
To hand several items back in one go:
- Set the quantity on each row you want to return.
- Click Return {count} line(s) in the header.
The kiosk groups the selected lines by their rental and closes each one. A toast confirms {count} line(s) returned.
Scanning to Return
The scanner is active on this screen. Scan an item and the kiosk:
- Finds the matching outstanding line and highlights it.
- Adds it to the current return selection.
- Plays a confirmation sound (or an error sound if the item isn't out).
This makes it easy to scan a pile of returned equipment and then confirm the whole batch.
If a scanned item is not currently out, the kiosk shows This item is not out and plays an error sound — nothing is added.
Offline Behavior
Returns made here follow the same offline rules as the cockpit: if the server is unreachable, the return is queued locally and synced automatically when the connection returns.
